Tonight | ExitMusic and Phantogram at the Royale
It’s gonna be a good night for indie electro rock tonight in Boston. Exitmusic and Phantogram are playing tonight at the Royale.
Exitmusic, a project by friends Aleksa Palladino and Devon Church, is really the perfect choice of band to open for Phantogram. The duo have just released their EP From Silence, and where Phantogram turns up the bass and beats to stray more towards the hip hop spectrum, Exitmusic turns to the
darker side with emotive music complete with icy guitars and angelic vocals. In their single The Sea, Aleksa’s floating vocals start off the song, but Exitmusic has mastered the art of slowly building layer after layer of sound but doing so without tipping anyone off to what they’re doing. All of the sudden you realize that the song has completely changed directions. Exitmusic will start off the night at 7 p.m., and if their EP is any indication, they’ll
have people captivated.
Phantogram is coming off of the added success of their recently released EP Nightlife. They’ve really added a solid set of songs to their catalog in between releases. And surely we’ll get to hear a great mix of new and old songs during their set at the Royale tonight. Phantogram goes on at 8 p.m.
Doors open at 6 p.m., and tickets day-of are $17!
