This week’s WFMO X Music Savage Show “Song of the Week” spotlight is once again focused on the city in West Yorkshire, England. It is the second time we are highlighting Leeds band The Golden Age of TV and this time it is for their new single, “Televison.” The quintet officially formed in the summer of 2016 and only have a few singles to their name. Despite their short period of existence, they already have the music world taking notice.
The Golden Age of TV are Bea Fletcher (vocals), Andrew Edwards (bass/vocals), Sam Carty (vocals/guitar/keys), Ryan Bird (guitar), and Josh Ketch (drums), and together they create uniquely energetic music that can be categorized as art-rock, however solely placing them in a certain style of sound doesn’t do the quintet justice. Take a listen to the new single and you’ll understand the dizzying heights to which they take angular hooks and glam-rock shimmer.
The band have already opened for major acts in Europe, and played a high-powered set at 2017’s “Live at Leeds” festival, so with this much momentum behind these talented musicians it is only a matter of time before they secure their own headline tour and have other up and coming bands opening for them. Keep an eye and ear out for The Golden Age of TV!
