The latest WFMO X Music Savage Show “Song of the Week” spotlight is focused on the power-pop-tastic new single, “Dying to Believe,” from New Zealand quartet The Beths. It’s the debut single from the band’s highly anticipated sophomore album, Jump Rope Gazers, out July 10th via Carpark Records. This is the second time the SOTW has gone to the Auckland band!
The Beths are Elizabeth Stokes (vocals/guitar), Jonathan Pearce (vocals/guitar), Benjamin Sinclair (bass/vocals), and newest member of the band Ivan Luketina-Johnston (drums/vocals). In March of 2016 they released their debut EP, Warm Blood, which was well received and garnered the then up-and-coming band high praise from the New Zealand music press. August 2018 saw the release of their debut full-length album, Future Me Hates Me, a record that blew up here in the states and brought them to our country for two headlining tours. First time in our area was October 2018 at Atwood’s Tavern and second at Brighton Music Hall early 2019. Thankfully I was at both shows because they were outstanding!
I am so excited for the new album. The new song makes me extremely happy and that is a feeling that is needed now more than ever! With the release date not until summertime, Jump Rope Gazers, will be the perfect addition to your seasonal playlist and should be listened to at full blast while dancing around outside with all of your friends.
