Song of the Week | Saltwater Sun - The Great Deceiver
This week’s WFMO X Music Savage Show “Song of the Week” spotlight focuses on the UK and shines brightly on the fantastic single “The Great Deceiver” from Reading band Saltwater Sun. It’s the title-track off their highly anticipated new EP out Friday, April 5th.
Saltwater Sun is Jen Stearnes (vocals), Joel Neale (guitar), Dan Kingham (guitar), Rob Carter (bass) and Ben Chandler (drums). The five-piece released their debut EP, Wild, in 2015 and quickly found an audience thanks to powerfully emotional lyrics and super catchy guitar hooks.
The new track, “The Great Deceiver,” is a three minute power-pop anthem on not taking yourself, or your self-worth, for granted. Stearnes sings “You’ll never know your worth in the world/If you keep selling yourself off for cheaper” as both a message to her younger, less-confident, self and as motivating statement to the listener to embrace their own inner strength and confidence.
Turn this one up loud and don’t let anything stand in your way!
