Song of the Week | Glorietta - Hard Way
The latest WFMO X Music Savage Show “Song of the Week” spotlight is focused on the excellent new single, “Hard Way,” from the brand new supergroup Glorietta. The six-piece band have just released a couple of singles from their upcoming, self-tilted debut album due out August 24th.
Glorietta are Matthew Logan Vasquez (Middle Brother, Delta Spirit), Noah Gundersen (The Courage), Kelsey Wilson (Wild Child), David Ramirez, Adrian Quesada (Brownout, Black Pumas), and Jason Blum. The band came to life last year when Vasquez traveled to my old hometown of Austin, Texas to catch a show by singer-songwriter David Ramirez. The two talented musicians discussed the idea of bringing some friends together to write some songs and see where it took them. Well, it took them to Glorieta, New Mexico and there the friends created an album’s worth of tunes. During the session they were also joined by Nathaniel Rateliff and Los Lobos saxophonist Steve Berlin. I bet that was a grand ol’ time indeed!
With my favorite time of the year just around corner I am super excited to be able to see Glorietta perform a number of times at Newport Folk Festival July 27th-29th. They take to the Quad Stage at the Fort on Friday, July 27th for a set at 2:40pm and will then host back to back official aftershow benefit performances at Parlor Newport July 27th & 28th. For those not attending NFF (and I am sorry if you are not) you can catch them here in Boston Wednesday, October 17th @ Brighton Music Hall.
