The WFMO X Music Savage Show “Song of the Week” spotlight is focused sharply on the killer new single, “Retina,” from East London trio False Heads. We have been following the British band for just about two years now and it has been fantastic to see the talented trio find their punk rock footing in a punk rock scene in serious need of a punk rock attitude adjustment.
Following the release of their first single, “Steal and Cheat,” for Gary Powell’s label 25 Hour Convenience Store, the guys have seen their European fan base grow by leaps and bounds. “Retina” is the second single from the band to be featured as a, “Song of the Week,” and their first new music since the release of the brilliant EP, Gutter Press, back in March 2017 (which made my Favorite Albums of 2017 list). As you can see I have made it my musical mission to expand their audience here in the states!
False Heads are Luke Griffiths (vocals/guitar), Jake Elliott (bass) and Barney Nash (drums), and if I’ve said it once I’ve said it a thousand times folks…these guys are real deal rock n’ roll! Here’s to hoping 2018 brings a tour across the pond. If they do get to a stage in Boston one day you can bet I’ll be front and center.
