Song of the Week | Erin Rae - Like The First Time
The latest WFMO X Music Savage Show “Song of the Week” spotlight is focused on the great new single, “Like The First Time,” from Tennessee musician Erin Rae. It’s the first song from her forthcoming sophomore album which is due out this year.
Rae has been called Nashville’s best kept secret, quietly making her mark on the Music City by providing her extraordinary vocal talent to a number of albums from notable area musicians such as Margo Price, Andrew Combs, and Anderson East. She is also a voice coach and has helped aspiring singers to find their place in a city that radiates talent. In 2016 Rae took center stage with the release of her full-length debut album, Soon Enough, which quickly garnered critical praise and set a new course for the skilled singer-songwriter.
With the release of “Like The First Time” it’s clear that a number of musical influences have shaped the musician’s sound. It’s a sixties inspired psych-rock-country song executed with precision using crunchy distortion and fuzzed-out reverb, beautifully blended with Rae’s ethereal voice.
Erin Rae won’t be Nashville’s best kept secret for too much longer. Take a listen to the song above and be sure to check out her first album, Soon Enough, which she recorded with her band The Meanwhiles.
