Song of the Week | Buffalo Tom - Roman Cars

The latest WFMO X Music Savage Show “Song of the Week” spotlight is on the incredible new single, “Roman Cars,” from Boston’s very own Buffalo Tom. This is the second time we have focused on the legendary local trio, and for good reason. Their ninth studio album, Quiet and Peace, is out Friday, March 2nd via Scrawny/Schoolkids Records, and as I have listened to it front and back quiet a few times now, I can honestly say that their first album in seven years was well worth the wait!

Buffalo Tom are Bill Janovtiz (vocals/guitar), Chris Colbourn (vocals/bass), and Tom Maginnis (drums) and the trio has played a pivotal roll in keeping the Boston rock n’ roll scene alive and kicking for three decades now. Having formed in 1986 the guys released their stellar self-titled debut album in 1988, followed by seven other spectacular studio albums including 1992’s masterful, Let Me Come Over, and what is considered by many as their breakthrough album, Big Red Letter Day, in 1993.  This author’s love for the band knows no bounds and I have written a few pieces on them (which you can see here if you are so inclined) so it should come as no surprise that they are once again featured as my “Song of the Week.”

They are currently wrapping up their Let Me Come Over 25th Anniversary tour this week on the West Coast with stops in Seattle, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. Also, while in Seattle they’ll play a live in-studio performance on the fantastic radio station KEXP. If you are in the area you can sign up on the station’s site and see them for free. Do it!

They’ll be back in Boston Friday, April 20th for a show at Paradise Rock Club and I’ll have a pair of tickets to give away on this Friday’s Music Savage Show so be sure to tune in 7-9am on WMFO 91.5 FM on the radio dial and streaming wmfo.org
