Pickwick made their first visit to Boston on April 25th with a packed show at TT the Bear’s in Cambridge. They played a solid set in support of their recently released debut, Can’t Talk Medicine, and threw in a few covers for fun. It was nearly impossible to dodge the sweat flying from the stage, but everyone was too busy singing along to care.
The guys took the stage and immediately launched into Myths. The long and rambling instrumental track was the perfect way to draw out the crowd before they launched into Brother Roland. You could tell that the crowd had been waiting for a while for

Pickwick to roll through town as they cheered especially live for the tracks off of their past EPs, especially The Round and Hacienda Motel.
Opener Basia Bulat climbed back on stage to help Pickwick out on their lead single, Lady Luck. Originally sung by Sharon Van Etten, Basia pulled off the part flawlessly, and it seemed everyone on stage had big grins on their faces throughout the song.
Lead singer Galen chatted with the crowd throughout the set, bantering about Charles Manson, which is where the inspiration for their album title came from. Their live performance brought their music to live, adding another layer of dirt and grime and soul to their already dripping debut.
Near the end of their set, the guys snuck in a cover of Damien Jurado’s I Am the Greatest of All Liars, and came back for an encore performance of Elvis Costello’s Pump It Up. If you didn’t leave TT the Bear’s covered in sweat, you did it wrong.
