Photos | Mighty Poplar @ The Sinclair
It seemed somewhat poetic that confetti sporadically fell from the ceiling of The Sinclair last night, as the bluegrass super-group Mighty Poplar—Shad Cobb (sitting in for Alex Hargreaves on this run,) Chris Eldridge, Greg Garrison, Andrew Marlin and Noam Pikelny—was finally able to tour behind an album they canned three years ago. Last night’s performance was a celebration of sorts. And the bluegrass diehards and the happening-throughs benefited from the celebration equally.
As Noam reminded us all a few times, bluegrass leads to bad decisions. But in the case of these musical luminaries putting the effort in to making this project a reality—it may seem like it was a bad decision, but it was for all the right reasons.
If you can find your way to catch this bluegrass version of lightning in a bottle, I would highly suggest you do so.
