New Music | Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros - Hot Coals
More than two years after the release of their self-titled third studio album, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros have just teased their latest efforts with the release of the jazzy and atmospheric “Hot Coals.”
Fronted by falsetto vocals, the track itself starts sparsely but smoothly becomes an example of a rhythm and piano driven anthem of sorts. So much so, you can see this song becoming the backdrop to free-styled lyrics inspired by whatever social movement Alex Ebert feels is worthy of attention at any moment.
Per Ebert, the bands enigmatic leader:
“We’ve been on for a while now, but it’s like we just turned on a new page in the old book with the inscription: serve your power and work beyond reason.”
We have. Here’s a large helping of it.
Have at it, interwebs. Let this one take you through the rest of your Monday afternoon.
And begin the countdown to the drop of their new album (slated for the beginning of 2016.)
