JJ Grey & Mofro
[J]acksonville, Florida’s JJ Grey & Mofro seem to be a bit of a chameleon. Their record, This River, which released Tuesday, blends sounds of funk, soul, and southern rock. The influence of soul music is all over this single “Somebody Else,” a tune that oozes sounds of Stax

Ra Ra Riot
[C]heck out this Record Store Day special track from Ra Ra Riot titled “All I Fear,” a hard driving amalgamation of synthpop based music with string assortments. The song pushes and soars during it’s high flying choruses’ and practically begs to be played at a high volume. Look

Frightened Rabbit
[T]his is a righteous collaboration, Frightened Rabbit & Manchester Orchestra teamed up on 1/2 of a 12″ single for Record Store Day with this tune titled “Architect.” It’s a tenderly plucked confessional that begs for more collaboration between these two awesome bands. [A]nd on the other
The Fort Frances

Stonefeather
[I] literally couldn’t resist posting this track from Los Angeles’ Stonefeather, “Hipster Girl,” off of their new album California Air. Shark?
[T]he world didn’t need another song about California girls, not even 10 seconds of one, and then this one showed up. Shark?’s (try saying that with the right vocal inflection) “California Girls,” is quite a bit different, dispelling the notion of wonderfulness California girls usually get. The
Young Man
Young Man – Unfair [C]olin Caulfield and his nom de plume Young Man released another track from his upcoming record All Around Me, which releases April 9th on Frenchkiss Records. “Unfair,” is a lush, slow driving track that feels a bit pedestrian. It seems to have quite the amount of
Sonny & the Sunsets
[R]ockers Sonny & The Sunsets have nestled into a really wonderful niche, that seems to allow them to churn out album after album after album, of this wonderful garage rock / psych pop pastiche. Surprisingly, they are releasing their fourth album in as many years. The album, Antenna to the
