Goodnight Texas
[A]nachronism in music is something we hear in music every day, especially folk music, as it is passed down from generation to generation. It seems as though Avi Vinocur and Patrick Dyer Wolf, the creatives proper for cross-country collaboration Goodnight, Texas understand that. Their music seems to come
Shakey Graves
[F]or the most part, seeing and hearing music live is the top dog of experiences in the music world. You get a sense of the song’s standing in the artist’s eyes, you see them sweat over it, you can feel the music in your chest, and even
Justin Townes Earle
[S]eptember brings us a new release from one of our absolute favorite musicians, Justin Townes Earle. The album in question, Single Mothers, is already Earle’s 5th, and new single “Time Shows Fools,” is showing us Earle’s ability to write and play a smooth, warm alt-country tune.
[T]his is my mixtape for the month of July, there was so much good music this month, I couldn’t even keep this to 20 songs. Great new tunes from Savage favorites Chuck Prophet, Blake Mills, The Rural Alberta Advantage, and even a few we never thought we’d

[I]’d gone in expecting audience participation at the hands of some of Against Me!’s more anthemic songs, like “I Was a Teenage Anarchist” and “Unconditional Love.” But nearly everything on their setlist became a rowdy singalong. It’s rare to see a band play with such obvious joy,
Chuck Prophet
[C]huck Prophet’s background is vast, and lengthy, and he’s recently announced a 13th studio album to add to his own lore. His most recent release, Temple Beautiful, was a critical success, and it seems as though he’s
[B]ack in 2012 there was a lot of hubbub over Wisocnsin’s Field Report, I saw them at SXSW and they totally amazed me. Chris Porterfield’s background, vocals and songwriting gave the band instant gravitas, they toured relentlessly and blew us all away with their tunes. Having written
Harriet
[Y]et another tune has surfaced from Los Angeles band Harriet’s new upcoming record “It’s Totally Cool, I Wouldn’t Even Worry About It.” Everything we’ve heard from this record to date has this interesting tone, it’s
mixtape
[T]his is the first month I’ve tried this, so it’s kind of test, but I’m looking for the best way to bring back monthly mixtapes, and maybe I’ve found it. Seeing as giving away mp3’s are a thing of the past, we’ve got
The Rural Alberta Advantage
[I] couldn’t be more excited than to find out that Toronto’s Rural Alberta Advantage was releasing a new record titled, Mended with Gold, September 30th and this blistering single, “Terrified,” was released as well. To say that the new record from The RAA is highly anticipated is putting
Soft Swells
[S]oft Swells are named after the bunny hill of waves that beginners use to learn on, and aside from the obvious connection the music takes to the easy breezy California surf vibe, the band has continually been growing up, maturing, and moving on to the big boy waves. “Floodlights,
Filligar
[C]hicago’s Filligar is prepping a brand new single that I’m pretty excited about, “Motor Shine,” a fresh sound for a band that might need a break, they’ve been touring relentlessly for the last 8 years, and specifically the last few after gaining big press from all
