Artist Watch: AB & the Sea
Good news from the California coast. San Franciscan (by way of Wisconsin) band AB & the Sea writes wonderfully feel good pop songs. After saying good bye to the midwest, they packed their van, headed for the west coast and made their way to San Francisco. Busking downtown for rent money, they were discovered by a promoter, and they began opening for bands like Marcy’s Playground, The Morning Benders, The Fruit Bats, The Submarines, The Miniature Tigers, and even Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros.
They then headed to the studio to record some of their songs. What came out is their Boys & Girls EP, with the Morning Benders’ Chris Chu and Eric Frederic of Facing New York. The EP, and lead single Bone Dry, caught my attention when I heard they were opening for Jukebox the Ghost this fall on the west coast this fall.
The Boys & Girls EP is a fantastic 20 minute journey around the pop atmosphere. Complete with catchy head bobbing spunky songs that will have you replaying again and again. They have a great west coast vibe, that keeps you smiling, and singing along. This band harmonizes like the Beach Boys, their music is super fresh, and totally fun. Audience on the west coast, head to one of their shows with Jukebox the Ghost, Audience on the east coast, pray they make their way out here. This is a band to keep on your radar, if you like having fun.
Listen to Bone Dry, then get out there grab the Boys & Girls EP, and get dancing.
